Small Business Marketing
Manage All Of Your WordPress Sites and Blogs From 1 Place
Is Managing Multiple WP Sites A Total Pain?
Well, it doesn’t have to be. All of those usernames and passwords. Sure, you can use some password and memory tools…but that just gets you in and out of the sites easier. It doesn’t let you OVERSEE what’s going on at a single glance. Having all of your different sites in 1 nice and neat place can save you a ton of time and frustration when managing blogs and sites for your business or your client’s business.
Small Business Owners Fall Into “The Ole Mirror Syndrome”
Small Business Owners Fall Into “The Ole Mirror Syndrome”
In the past few months, I’ve talked to so many business owners and the topic of getting new customers always seems to come up.
After a few minutes, I can usually see a big part of the problem.
They usually don’t realize that their own marketing in causing them to to LOSE potential customers. (and even MONEY)
Now, I know it’s not their fault. It’s what I like to call the “The Ole Mirror Syndrome”. It’s when you are looking at something the same way, through the same lens or mirror for so long, that’s it starts to look the same.
Just like with kids…parents don’t realize their growth, as much as others, because parents see them every day. I can just hear the relatives now…”Oh! You’ve Gotten So Big!”
(Cute and all when you’re younger…but when you get older, you don’t really like that one as much! lol)
So it comes down to the way we look at our own business and even our own website.
When we first get into business, we’re conditioned to think that we need business cards, a website, and maybe even a brochure to feel legit and credible. So, since we’re scrambling around thinking about so many different things, we get them any way we know how. When someone says, “I can do that for you” or I know someone that does that”…typically we’re so busy thinking about other things that we never really think this through…or even have the perspective to do so.
Web designers take a lot of pride in their work (as they should). Their goal is usually to build you a beautiful website that they can use in their portfolio. That’s all fine and dandy…but, web designers are typically not marketers, so if you want to get customers and make sales from your website, you need to THINK like a marketer.
A web designer usually doesn’t ask for what your goals are for your website. They’ll show you their sites and maybe even show other sites in your industry that they can make better. While this is nothing against web designers, the key is this…
What YOU, the business owner should be very clear on, is what the purpose of your website is…
Is it to build a relationship? share your expertise, opinion or experiences, (like a blog), or is it to make sales (like an e-commerce site)?
Many times, websites are sold as your “brochure online”. Having a brochure site is great, but with our fast paced interactive society and incredible technology at our finger tips, a brochure site falls “flat” when it comes to expecting sales.
It’s just not wired that way.
Having a crappy cup of coffee from your local diner and expecting it to be as rich and freshly ground as if the beans were just shipped in from Brazil that morning, is as opposite as you can get.
Business owners have been looking at this, only from 1 angle for so long, that they just don’t even see it, hence “The Ole Mirror Syndrome”.
You need get some new light and maybe it’s time for a new mirror.

Are you looking for something to shift right now? Maybe in your business, or maybe in your life…perhaps it’s both!
So many things have shifted these days, in technology, in business, the way we communicate, in the way people incorporate technology in their lives, etc. (Grandmothers around the world are on YouTube, Facebook, and are sending text messages…believe me, lots have changed!)
Do You Currently Own A Business?
If you do and you don’t have all of the customers that you can handle, it’s not because of the economy. Many people will argue that point, but the truth is, there is a lot of money being made right now, and the economy hasn’t gotten in the way of the people who believe in this.
The problem is many business owners feel like they’re left behind with all of this new technology.
Most of the time, it’s just a matter of having the right strategy and systems in place. The principles of “Customer-Getting” are actually simple. But unfortunately, have been blown way out of proportion by quacks, scammers, and get rich quick schemers. Business owners have become confused and overwhelmed to what works and what doesn’t because their industries have been infiltrated with horrible ideas.
A good system and strategy can completely transform a business, increase it’s leads, building quality relationships with it’s prospects, convert prospects into buyers, all while positioning themselves as the Leader in their industry. People do business with who they know, like and trust. Period.
Always Thought About Starting Your Own Business?
Maybe you’re “between jobs” at the moment or are just hating your current job. Maybe it’s the hours, being away form your family, or maybe it’s the environment. Many times, when people and employers start feeling stressed they take it out on their co-workers without even realizing it. They feel that it’s their way of getting things done, or getting results, or impressing their supervisors…non-sense, right?
There’s a great slogan from an Awesome company, called SendOutCards…”It doesn’t matter what you say or do, it’s how you make someone feel.” I love that one. It’s so true. When stress levels go up, they forget about what they say or do making work environments extremely TOXIC!
That kind of stress will kill you! Taking your own destiny into your own hands sounds a bit “airy-fairy”, I know…but it’s so true. “If it’s gonna be, it’s up to me!”…and all that stuff.
The most successful people in the world embody these principles.
There are people who are not happy with their current job, or financial situation and are looking for something right now. Something that will give them some freedom, make them some money…and oh yeah…happiness.
As you can see, there are HUGE needs right now and that means MAJOR OPPORTUNITY.
No business can survive without serving a need. Think about it…If you’re hungry, some food can fix that. If you’re sick, then some medicine can help cure it. When you combine the elements of 1) The Need and 2) The Cure …you’ve got yourself a winning business.
It doesn’t matter how much the price of gas goes up, people need it, so they buy it.
Starting, running, or growing a business is no different. What you have to sell, must be what people need (or think they need). Example: People don’t buy an iPhone because they NEED and iPhone, they buy one because they WANT one.
There is so much opportunity right now, and it’s all yours for the having!

Ad Deconstruction – Lessons in Marketing
This is pretty cool…I belong to a few business networking groups on Facebook and in one of them, someone posted that they needed help with one of their ads. I was going to give my feedback there, but I thought that it would be easier to understand in a video. I also thought that more people would be able to learn from this, as well. I hope this helps. Let me know what you think by leaving a comment below and if you liked it, I hope you’ll pay it forward and share it with some of your friends that could benefit from it too! Thanks ~Joe
Small Business Owners: Beware
The big topic that just never goes away is customer acquisition, or as we say in the sophisticated world of marketing…”NEW CUSTOMER-GETTING”.
New Customer-Getting techniques are getting way out of hand these days. Basically, it’s because there are so many opportunities for newbies to get in to the business by being a salesman (or woman, can’t forget the ladies).
With the combination of the latest “Flavor-of-the-second technology”, salespeople that don’t know anything about marketing, AND business owners who are looking for SOMETHING/ANYTHING that will bring new customers in…things can get ugly.
The Opportunity for these types of people to take advantage of the rise of new technology and “eager” entrepreneurs is down-right wrong.
I’ve witnessed first-hand, a so-called SEO Guru (Search Engine Optimization) trying to get one over on a very good friend of mine.
I was in her office when the phone call came in, so she put me on as her “business partner”. Although, it was a lot of fun to hear the complete non-sense that came out of this guy’s head, I also felt sad and a bit angry. (yes, angry! I know you just can’t imagine it, right?)
Maybe I saved my friend from buying in to any of it (not that she would anyway…she knows I’d be like…”Whaaaaattttt?!?!?!?!”), but knowing how many other people they will prey on, and succeed in their scam…disgusts me.
People don’t know what they don’t know. It’s happened to me too and it’s not fun, especially when you find out. (that’s another story for another time!)
Throwing away money on scams like that, is never a good thing, whether you’re in a position to or not.
These guys come in all shapes and forms…
Whether it’s SEO, Advertising, Social Media, Mobile, Video, Email, Diner place mats, whatever, etc…No industry is safe. They’re so many things to watch out for…
Here’s a quick tip…
If someone says they’re a SEO Expert, then do this:
Google: “SEO Expert” and see who comes up on Page 1.
If they don’t, ask them, “If you’re really a SEO Expert, shouldn’t you be able to get yourself on Page 1?”
Have a laugh listening to them stumble, then hang up.
I hope you liked this and found it helpful.
Please leave a comments & questions below and share this with your friends.I’d really appreciate it! Thanks! ~Joe

Marketing has also shifted from a one-way broadcast to a “multi-point” conversation. In the past, communications were “broadcast” exclusively through mass marketing channels like radio, TV and newspapers. (morse code, carrier pigeon, messenger on horseback…Paul Revere style, you get the picture). With social media, however, much of the communication is controlled by the prospects through services like Facebook and Twitter, which have more than 700 million members combined—and YouTube, which gets 300 million visitors a month.
